SAUDI ARABIA –– Five new logistics corridors are offering improved freight transport from Arabian Gulf ports.

SAUDI Arabian Railways (SAR) has announced the launch of five new logistics corridors connecting ports on the Arabian Gulf with central and northern regions of Saudi Arabia, Red Sea ports and neighbouring countries.

While the precise routes were not disclosed, they serve the Riyadh Dry Port, and freight terminals in Damman, Jubail, Ras Al-Khair, Al-Kharj, Hail, and Al-Qurayyat, enabling the transport of minerals and petrochemicals using a combination of road and rail services.

“This infrastructure connects local industrial centres directly to international shipping lines, significantly reducing transit times and improving operational reliability for major industrial and mining sectors,” SAR said in a statement.

SAR CEO, Bashar Al-Malik, says that expansion of service “solidifies Saudi Arabia’s role as a vital logistical corridor linking east and west, ensuring the smooth flow of international trade even amidst rapid global supply chain shifts.”

SAR also announced last month the launch of a new rail freight service on the 1700km route from the Port of King Abdulaziz in Dammam, Jubail Commercial Port and King Fahd Industrial Port, running on the North-South Railway to Al Zabirah Junction and continuing north to Al-Haditha and Jordan.
