ST. LOUIS, Ill. - Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division (BMWED) American Rail System Federation members on the UP-owned Alton & Southern Railway (A&S) ratified a 5 year collective bargaining agreement.
According to BMWED, the vote was 24-0. The agreement is similar to those on other Class I railroads, the release says. This agreement follows the national pattern, and A&S members “will receive a compounded of 18.77 percent in general wage increases over five years.” These are effective July 1 of each year. Below is the structure of said raises:
- 4% in 2025
- 3.75% in 2026
- 3.5% in 2027
- 3.25% in 2028
- 3% in 2029
ARSF General Chairman Johnny Long thanked “the members on Alton & Southern for their confidence and trust as we negotiated this deal and commend them for their attention to detail and their steady input and hard work to see that we cemented this contract. . . We had great involvement from the members during this round of bargaining and a 24-0 vote tally illustrates that commitment.”
