MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. – Robert “Bob” Cigrang, Vice President of Sales for Omni Rail Products, died Dec. 3. He was 74.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bob Cigrang of Mount Prospect, Ill.,” Rob Greenside, Omni Rail Products Sales Manager-Midwest, South Central and West Coast, told Railway Age and Railway Track & Structures. “Bob was the driving force behind Omni Rail Products for 37 years. Bob’s smile and handshake were unforgettable to anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him, either at a railroad conference or on a job site. His kindness and generosity, and incredible wisdom will be greatly missed.”

Cigrang was an avid fisherman, matchbook collector, and sports enthusiast, as well as an extensive traveler due to his work at Omni, a grade crossing system supplier to the U.S. rail industry.

He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Phyllis (née Korba); two children, Sarah and Dan (Christina); a grandson, Adam; and a sister, Kathy (Bob), and a brother, Dave (Sue). He was predeceased by his brother Tim (Donna).

A visitation will be held Dec. 8 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. The funeral service will be held Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joseph C. Monastra Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer.
