SAN FRANCISCO – Track shutdown for that was planned for August 17th – 18th between Rockridge, MacArthur, and 19th Street stations has been postponed to September 21st – 22nd.

Previously, RT&S reported a postponement in replacing a series of interlockings between BART’s Rockridge, MacArthur, and 19th Street stations. Originally, that work was scheduled for the weekend of July 20th – 21st. Over the August 17th – 18th weekend, BART focused on trackway improvements in the Berkeley Hills Tunnel.

During the weekend of September 21st – 22nd, crews will work on replacing “track switches in the core of the system in Oakland.” The postponement, BART says, will allow it “to further evaluate lessons learned from the first shutdown weekend in June. The goal remains to minimize short term impacts on riders by maximizing work efficiency.” The temporary shutdowns are necessary to allow a safe workspace for crews.

This work is expected to take place over 18 non-consecutive weekends over the next three years as part of its Measure RR rebuilding program.
