BUFFALO, N.Y. –– On Monday, July 8, the Buffalo light rail system adjusted service to accommodate construction.

Spectrum News 1 reports that the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority’s Metro Rail system announced that between Monday, July 8 through Thursday, July 11, and between Saturday July 20 to Thursday, July 29, part of the operation will be shut down for important improvements and upgrades to the track bed and catenary, along with the electrical system.

Director of Public Transit, James Morrell said “This work is part of our overall plan for rail renewal and necessary in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our system. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers during this temporary pause.”

The agency will mitigate passenger inconvenience by running shuttle service between the Allen Medical Campus and the Canalside station. The shuttles will run every 20 minutes.
