BALTIMORE - The MDOT MTA released the April 2025 Purple Line Newsletter that contains construction updates in Montgomery and Prince George's counties.
According to the newsletter, the MDOT MTA celebrated testing light rail vehicles on the Purple Line. The testing phase is a milestone in the project as it “marks a major step forward in the Purple Line project as we transform from heavy construction to a future transit option for Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, and beyond.”
In Montgomery County, construction updates include photographs of foundation and stream restoration work on the north side of a new bridge over Sligo Creek; installation of art, a westbound platform, and canopy at Connecticut Avenue Station; continued construction of the Lyttonsville Operations and Maintenance Facility; and an elevator shaft and stairs at Connecticut Avenue Station.
In Prince George’s County, the newsletter features photos of LRV testing; embedded track along Campus Drive, newly opened Riggs Road, and a direct fixation track installation on the bridge located over the Northeast Branch Anacostia River.
