TORONTO – Metrolinx’s Barrie Line experiences construction this upcoming weekend.

Metrolinx announced that there will be no GO Train service on its Barrie Line on June 17-18 due to construction. Shuttle buses will be available for passengers as an alternative during that time.

The Maple GO Station will see upgrades “to accommodate the new west platform and tracks” and that in Vaughn near Simcoe Street and Lindenshire Avenue, track will be “temporarily removed to install sanitary and storm sewer connections.” Additionally, a railway switch will be installed by Ridgefield Crescent.

Davenport Road rehabilitation includes “restoration, deck waterproofing, expansion joint installation and approach slab installation,” with Aurora receiving a new culvert and the installation of 80-feet-long panels.

Shuttle buses will run for commuters along Union Station Bus Terminal, Rutherford, Maple, King City, Aurora, Newmarket, and East Gwillimbury Go stations. Weekend shuttle bus service will also run to Aurora with some other bus trips running express between Union Station Bus Terminal, Allandale Waterfront Go, and Barrie South Go.

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion plan “will provide more service with faster trains and seamless connections to a regional rapid transport network.” Metrolinx encourages its riders to subscribe to On the GO alerts.
