DENVER - The Regional Transportation District (RTD) announced it has eliminated speed restrictions on its D, H, and R lines and will complete important maintenance work on the A Line between Denver Airport and Union Stations from April 26th to May 8th.

D Line

Crews worked to eliminate the last speed restriction on the D Line, allowing all light rail trains to now resume regular speeds. 300 feet of rail was installed along the line between Littleton-Downtown and Litton-Mineral stations.

H and R Lines

On April 22nd, RTD announced it had removed three speed restrictions on the H and R lines. With these lifted, Slow Zone #3 was eliminated as a result. Only one slow zone remains in RTD’s system.

A Line

Crews will work from April 26th to May 8th between the Denver Airport and Union stations on the A Line. During this period of time, RTD will work on rail maintenance and curved track replacement. These efforts will help to “improve reliability and safety” of the line.

On April 26th from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., RTD will use bus shuttles for riders between Union and Central Park stations. More information on said shuttles can be found here. From April 27th to April 30th, trains will run every 30 minutes between Union and Denver Airport stations on a single track. From May 1st to May 8th, crews will surface track during off-peak hours between these two stations while trains use one track. On May 3rd, crews will surface tracks between Denver Airport and 61st-Peña stations. Once completed, rail service to the airport will resume.
