ATLANTA – The September issue of Railway Track and Structures is now on line. The cover story honors the RT&S Engineer of the Year, Brent Laing, VP of Engineering at Canadian National.

The Editor’s Notebook provides some details about our new partnership with Wheel Rail Seminars as the presenting sponsor of the Heavy Haul session of the annual Wheel Rail Interaction Conference, the next which will be held in Chicago May 21-24, 2024. Keep your eyes on this space for registration and conference information.

A highlight of this issue is the Railway Interchange Product Showcase, which previews some of the vendors and products that will be at the upcoming Railway Interchange Conference in Indianapolis from October 1-4. This feature can also serve as a handy guide to take with you to the conference to enable you to focus on the particular vendors and products you are interested in.

As part of our new partnership with Wheel Rail Seminars, we’ll feature an article detailing a presentation made at the Wheel Rail Interaction Conference during the past couple of years. This month, Jeff Tuzik takes a look at Managing Train Slack action when cars are equipped with hydraulic end-of-car cushioning devices.

We also take a look at the opening of BNSFs new Sandpoint Bridge in an article featuring the excellent writing and beautiful photography of Bruce Kelly, a longtime Contributing Editor to Railway Age.

As always, we appreciate your readership and welcome your feedback!
