DALLAS – Over the weekend of March 23rd-25th, both DART and the NTTA have agreed to an overnight closure of the DNT to allow for construction on the DART Silver Line Regional Rail Project.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) have agreed to an overnight closure of the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) from Saturday, March 23rd to Sunday, March 24th. According to the report, the closure is located between Belt Line and Keller Springs, and it will help to advance the DART Silver Line Regional Rail Project construction. The DART Silver Line is a 26-mile commuter rail that goes through Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and Plano) and would interface with three other DART LRT lines: the Red, Orange, and Green Lines. The Silver Line revenue service is expected to start sometime between late 2025 and mid-2026.

Archer Western Herzog crews (DART’s design-build contract) will “set beams for a rail bridge that will take the Silver Line over the DNT and a future pedestrian bridge that connects Dallas and Addison as part of a regional hike and bike trail.” In the spring and early summer, there will be additional closures because DART needs to set both bridges. The NTTA also has work to complete on the DNT during that time.

DART Chief Development Officer Dee Leggett said the “primary focus is safety first, so while we understand this will cause an inconvenience for drivers at night, we want to ensure drivers and our crews remain out of harm’s way during normal daytime DNT traffic. . . We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we make progress on the Silver Line and adjacent hike and bike trail in the area.”
