U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA-2) visited Sivyer Steel Castings Oct. 26, where he met with the company’s leadership team to learn more about its new ownership and progress the company says it has made toward bringing itself out of bankruptcy.

Sivyer serves global enterprises including defense contractors from its plant location and is a significant Quad City employer.

Sivyer staff members provided Loebsack with information on its current sales growth and its rising employment of skilled labor. Officials highlighted the company’s growth since its low point of having 175 employees on board in 2014 to the current level of 251 employees, a statement said.

Sivyer’s leadership noted that several foundries that previously produced steel castings have gone out of business throughout the past several years, which officials said is contributing to the increased demand for Sivyer’s castings.

The executive team also discussed the need the company sees for the Loebsack to assist in gaining federal support to help solve an increasing flooding problem caused by rainwater run-off in the plant facility in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Officials said Loebsack pledged to help bring all the parties involved including the city of Bettendorf, Canadian National Railway and nearby property owners along with federal resources to address the problem.
