DENVER - Regional Transportation District (RTD) is beginning track surfacing work along the N Line from Union Station to Eastlake/124th Station in Thornton.

According to RTD, the track surfacing work begins September 29 and will continue for a month. This work is part of the agency’s maintenance program to ensure a safe and smooth ride for its passengers. During this work, a tamper vehicle picks up the rail, pushes metal paddles into the ballast, and vibrates to compact the ballast. Following the tamping, a regulator vehicle runs behind to distribute the ballast and smooth out the track bed for a consistent appearance.

RTD notes this program will take place in various locations and notifies residents that the work will be noisy. Prior to October 3, work will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. After, crews will work overnight from 11:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Service will not be impacted.
