HARRISBURG, Pa. – Amtrak’s Harrisburg Line Track Renewal project moves to phase four.
On March 20th, RT&S reported Amtrak had begun its “$122 million project in Pennsylvania to improve tracks on the Harrisburg Line, between Lancaster and Harrisburg.” Recently, RT&S reported the project had moved along and entered phase three on June 10th. Now, the project continues to progress as abc27 reports Amtrak has entered its fourth phase. The project has reached the 50% completion mark.
Keystone services and the Pennsylvanian train schedules are not expected to be affected by the work in a new location. Crews are replacing wooden ties with concrete ones in order to lengthen the lifespan of the infrastructure. According to the report, Amtrak stated a project of similar scale would take around 2 years to complete, but instead, it is “using single – and full-track outages, which will not only work to improve work efficiencies but also reduce customer impact.”
