Three Rail Crossings Scheduled for Rehabilitation in Connecticut

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. – Beginning August 25 and lasting through early September, crews will work on replacing railroad crossings at Hartford Avenue, Jordan Lane, and Wells Road in Wethersfield.
In a press release from the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT), the surrounding areas will be closed to all traffic for 48 hours. CTDOT says each crossing will be rehabilitated separately. Maps of each proposed detour can be found below:
Funding for the project partially comes from a CTDOT Rail Freight Improvement Program grant. Additional funding comes from Providence and Worcester Railroad, which operates the line.
“These projects ensure the freight line through Wethersfield remains in a state of good repair and addresses roadway surface concerns across the tracks. To ensure the safety of everyone, vehicles and pedestrians cannot travel through the work zone. We ask motorists to follow the posted detour routes during this short-term construction project. . . We appreciate the support and collaboration with the Town of Wethersfield, local businesses, and residents while these important safety upgrades take place,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Bureau Chief of Public Transportation Benjamin Limmer.
