STORY RETRACTION: SEPTA Has Not Reached an Agreement with TWU Local 234
Written by David C. Lester, Editor-in-Chief
PHILADELPHIA –– RT&S reported earlier today that SEPTA had reached an agreement with Transport Workers Union 234 to avert a strike in the coming days. THAT REPORT WAS IN ERROR, AND WE ARE RETRACTING THE STORY.
Railway Track & Structures reported this morning that SEPTA had reached an agreement with Transport Workers Union Local 234 to avert a strike. THIS REPORT WAS IN ERROR. SEPTA has not reached an agreement with the Union, and the latest reporting is that the current contract expires on Nov. 7, 2024, after which the Union has voted to authorize a strike. RT&S officially retracts the story that we ran this morning. We sincerely regret the error and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Moreover, this was our error and not that of our sources.
On October 28, 2024, RT&S reported that TWU Local 234 had authorized a strike, and you can read that story here. The reporting in that story has not changed.
Thank you.
David C. Lester, Editor-in-Chief, Railway Track & Structures.
