ATP Releases Light Rail Plan Renderings

AUSTIN - Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has released a draft of its light rail plan.

The 9.8-mile line includes 15 stations and runs from 38th Street to downtown to along East Riverside and south to Oltorf. Planners say construction can begin in two years, according to the report. Some of the design recommendations include pedestrian and bike paths, the addition of a station at Woolridge Square, and the relocation of Faro station to Grove Boulevard. The project also includes an operations and maintenance facility (OMF) and maintenance of way (MOW) shops.

The environmental impact statement draft was submitted to the FTA recently. the ATP says this document details “current conditions, describes alternatives for the project that were considered and assess potential environmental consequences of implementing the project.” Feedback is welcomed on the draft Environmental Statement until March 11th and can be shared here.
