SACRAMENTO - SacRT celebrated the groundbreaking of the future Dos Rios Light Rail Station on its Blue Line.
According to the release from Sacramento Regional Transit, the station is located on North 12th Street between Richards Boulevard and Sunbeam Avenue. This will provide its passengers with a connection to the River District and Mirasol Village community.
The project was funded through variable sources including $17.6 million from Transformative Climate Communities (TCC), $10 million from Senate Bill 125, $2.5 million from TIRCP Cycle 7, $1 million in a Congressional Directed Spending Request, and $9.5 million from a USDOT RAISE grant. Construction will begin this summer with an expected opening date by the end of 2026.
SacRT General Manager and CEO Henry Li said, “The groundbreaking of Dos Rios Station marks a significant step forward in our mission to enhance mobility and accessibility for all. . . This station will not only connect residents to jobs, education, and essential services but will also serve as a catalyst for economic development in the River District. We are grateful for the support of our federal, state, and local partners who helped make this vision a reality.”
