MONTREAL - CN shares a video on the progress made on projects in the Western Canada Corridor.
CN Vice President of Engineering Jamie Lockwood shared on LinkedIn a video showing the progress made on the expansion of its Western Canadian Corridor. CN teams have been working on building new sidings and laying new track as part of the Class I’s investment in infrastructure.
In CN’s 2025-2026 Grain Plan, it details the capacity projects that are expected to be completed this year in Western Canada.
Alberta
Galloway-Hargwen: Crews will add around 12 miles of double track on the Edson subdivision’s “most limiting single track bottleneck section.”
Dalehurst-Pedley: Crews will add around 5 miles of double track and a double crossover on the Edson subdivision’s single track bottleneck section.
Edson Yard: Crews will upgrade and signal a second main track. This is to help facilitate directional travel at track speed instead of at yard speed.
B.C.
Albreda: Crews will realign and extend the siding by more than 7,000 feet in order to support growth and “enhance network fluidity.”
Thornton Yard: Phase 1 of this project includes removing the receiving guard engineering tracks to extend 6 tracks in the B yard in order to improve the infrastructure.
The projects in Galloway-Hargwen, Dalehurst-Pedley, Edson Yard, and Albreda are expected to be completed in 2025 Q4. The Thornton Yard project is expected to be completed in 2025 Q3. CN’s 2025-2026 Grain Plan can be read in its entirety below.
