BALTIMORE - Jacobs and Kittelson secure a planning contract with Maryland Transit Administration to support planning, design, development, and environmental and urban planning needs.

According to Jacobs, the Jacobs/Kittelson and Associates, Inc. team was selected by the MTA to continue working on planning efforts for projects across the state. These projects include light rail, metro, and commuter rail projects. This joint venture, Jacobs says, will provide full planning services to assist Maryland’s transit infrastructure.

Jacobs lists out the planning services under the new contracts. These include navigating a financially constrained and competitive environment; continuing to lead in statewide transit planning, recognize and respond to shifting travel patterns that include commuter-based services, and apply emerging technologies to strengthen project design and increase competitiveness for federal funding.

Client account manager and senior transportation consultant Heather Murphy said, “From project development and environmental assessments to architecture, urban planning and engineering, we’re focused on creating positive outcomes for Maryland communities. . . Our planning approach centers on innovation and sustainability, expanding transit access for all residents. By enhancing accessibility and efficiency, we aim to reduce congestion, lower emissions and support a healthier environment.”

Murphy added, “Our planning solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of Maryland’s transit systems – from Maryland Area Rail Commuter and light rail to buses and statewide mobility. . . Together with Kittelson, we bring the experience and resources to help MTA meet today’s challenges and deliver a more connected, resilient future.”
