TORONTO - Metrolinx takes a tour of five stations along the new Line 5 Eglinton light rail transit line.

According to Metrolinx, Line 5 Eglinton measures 19 kilometers from Mount Dennis to Kennedy and has 25 stations. Below are short videos from Metrolinx that take a look at Keelesdale, Caledonia, Cedarvale, Chaplin, and Don Valley Stations.

Keelesdale Station sits on the western side of Line 5 Eglinton and was constructed using a cut-and-cover construction method. This method involves digging a trench from the surface, forming walls, and covering it once work on a tunnel is complete. Metrolinx says this method is usually reserved for “building relatively shallow tunnels where there is more open space at the surface and most often in areas where tunnels transition into stations.” This station has three entrances and 60 outdoor bicycle parking spots.

Caledonia Station is an underground station. Line 5 Eglinton has 15 of these in total. The station is located between Blackthorne Avenue and Croham Road and features a TTC bus loop.

Cedarvale Station has four entrances and bicycle parking spots. It serves as an interchange station that connects to TTC’s Line 1 subway. It is located at Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West.

Chaplin Station has three entrances, one of which served as a fire station in the 1920s. Housing 32 bicycle parking spots, it is located at Chapel Crescent and Eglinton Avenue West.

Lastly, Don Valley Station, which has two entrances, is located at Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue West. Metrolinx says it will serve as a future stop for the Ontario Line subway.
