UTA Unveils 2026 Maintenance Projects Schedule
Written by Jennifer McLawhorn, Managing Editor
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Transit Authority announced a lineup of 2026 maintenance projects on TRAX light rail and FrontRunner commuter rail lines.

According to UTA, these projects support the agency’s State of Good Repair plan by upgrading the system, prioritizing safety, and making overall improvements. The maintenance plans for 2026 will update infrastructure, perform necessary maintenance, and make repairs to “ensure that the system continues to provide safe and reliable service for all UTA customers,” says UTA.
This work is also done prior to its long-term plans, including the TRAX Forward program, which seeks to modernize the TRAX system by 2034 through four priority investment programs. The 2026 schedule is as follows:
March
- From March 14 to 15, UDOT will perform maintenance work on the I-215 bridge over North Temple Street. This is where the TRAX Green Line operates.
- On March 22 and 29, crews will make upgrades to the infrastructure on the TRAX Red Line tunnel.
- From March 26 to 28 (and September 5 to 6), the TRAX Green Line will be suspended between River Trail Station and West Valley Central Station to allow for Decker Lake Foundation maintenance.
April
- On April 12 and 19, crews will work on interlocking distressing SGR on the TRAX Red Line.
- On April 26, Draper Parkway siding SGR will take place with upgrades on the TRAX Blue Line.
May – June
- May 24 to June 20, crews will rebuild the 2100 South grade crossing, make upgrades to infrastructure, and replace rail.
July
- From July 5 to 11, crews will rebuild track at the 600 South intersection.
- July 25 to August 15, ballast cleaning, rail replacement, and resurfacing/realignment of track will take place at East 9th Avenue
