Jeffrey Watson Chosen to Receive RT&S Engineer of the Year Award

ATLANTA –– Jeffrey Watson, Vice President of Engineering at Genesee & Wyoming, has been chosen to receive the annual Railway Track & Structures Engineer of the Year Award for 2024.

Mr. Watson is a professional engineer with extensive Class I and Short Line holding company heavy haul freight railway technical and management experience.
Watson has served as Vice President of Engineering at Genesee & Wyoming since April 2020. He has the overall accountability of all engineering functions at G&W, including track maintenance, production , work equipment, signals & communications, bridges and structures, infrastructure design and construction.

A former member of the United States Marine Corps infantry, Watson began his railroad career as a management trainee with CSX. After a little over a year, Watson was promoted to Roadmaster and served in that position for over five years. In June 2008, Watson joined G&W as General Manager of Maintenance of Way and was promoted to positions of increasing responsibility until his appointment as VP of Engineering.
Watson is a graduate of Mississippi State University with a BS in Agricultural Engineering and is a long-time member of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association.
