COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) approved safety upgrades in Hamilton County.

At the Kugler Mill Road grade crossing, Indiana & Ohio Railway Company (IORY) will install flashing lights and gates by February 13, 2027. $408,631 in federal funds will go toward the project. Additionally, funds from the State Grade Crossing Safety Fund may be secured for safety improvements during construction. These include illumination, signage, and rumble strips and cannot exceed more than $5,000 per project.

PUCO says it is responsible for evaluating publicly-owned grade crossings across the state of Ohio and identifying its need for active warning devices.
