Downed Catenary Wire Causes ‘Significant Damage’ at Read Interlocking; Repairs Begin Aug. 4

BOSTON - MBTA and Keolis announce temporary commuter rail schedule changes to allow for emergency work to take place on the Franklin/Foxboro Line and Providence/Stoughton Line.
According to a release from Keolis, the MBTA and Keolis have announced a temporary schedule adjustment that will allow for repairs on the Franklin/Foxboro Line and the outbound Providence/Stoughton Line trains. On August 1, a downed Amtrak catenary wire caused ignited a key signal bungalow at Read Interlocking located where the Franklin/Foxboro Line splits from the mainline. Beginning August 4, crews will begin to repair the damage.
The repairs are expected to take several weeks, and as a result, schedule adjustments may need to be updated during that time. Any adjustments will be posted online at meta.com/cr. As of reporting, there are no “anticipated changes to the upcoming Foxboro special event train on Friday August 8th.”
