BOSTON - MBTA and Keolis Commuter Services announced commuter rail at North Station will be suspended during select weekends from January through April.

According to Keolis, the weekend service suspension allows crews time to make signal improvement work located just outside of the station. The signal system at Tower A will be modernized. Tower A controls train movements in and out of the station. The work, Keolis says, also prepares for the upcoming drawbridges replacement at North Station. MBTA says the signal system will be a “new, state-of-the-art microprocessor system” that necessitates less maintenance.

The select weekends where service will be suspended include: January 3 to 4, January 17 to 18, January 24 to 25, January 31 to February 1, February 28 to March 1, March 7 to 8, March 21 to 22, March 28 to 29, April 11 to 12, and April 24 to 27.

Detailed information on alternative routes for service can be found here.
