FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. – California High-Speed Rail Authority announced it has completed the Mountain View Avenue and Floral Avenue grade separations.
Construction began in 2023, and both structures were built by Dragados-Flatiron Joint Venture (DFJV). Now completed, the Mountain View Avenue overcrossing is located between Cedar and Peach avenues and measures 368 feet long and 40 feet wide. The Floral Avenue overcrossing is located between Cedar and Chestnut avenues and measures 381 feet long and 40 feet wide.
Both overcrossings were constructed using 1,600 cubic yards of concrete and more than 400,000 pounds of steel. Each has 16 pre-cast concrete girders that were manufactured at the DFJV Pre-Cast Facility in Hanford.

CHSRA Central Valley Regional Director, Garth Fernandez, said, “Safety is of the utmost importance during and after construction of the high-speed rail project. Grade separations are important to ensure safety around the surrounding communities during future operations. They eliminate existing at-grade crossings, improving safety for vehicular traffic while also reducing traffic congestion and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from idling vehicles.”
On the high-speed rail project between Madera and Tulare counties, construction continues. CHSRA says it “has begun work to extend the 119 miles currently under construction to 171 miles of future electrified high-speed rail from Merced to Bakersfield.” As of reporting, there are more than 25 active construction sites in the Central Valley.
