ATLANTA - On Sept. 8, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will suspend streetcar service to allow for underground utility repairs.
MARTA states Georgia Power will make the upgrades along the streetcar route. The suspension will last three to four months with MARTA providing alternative transportation for affected customers. Located between Courtland Street and Peachtree Center Avenue, Georgia Power “will excavate to repair underground electrical lines,” according to MARTA. Additionally, Georgia Power will make repairs to the overhead catenary, maintain track, trim trees, update signs and complete station refurbishments.
