ATLANTA - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) finishes station platform renovations, allowing for Red and Gold Line service to resume.
MARTA says the six-week closure allowed crews to work safely with reduced construction times and save $5 million. During this time, crews replaced 44-year-old platform pavers. Construction partners for this work include Carroll Daniel, C.D. Moody Construction Company Inc., H&M Restoration Service LLC, Level Construction Services Inc., Schindler Elevator Corporation, SRC Ventures LLC, and Williams Tile and Marble Company.
On the upper concourse, construction partners will continue to replace pavers and conduct cleaning, pressure-washing, windscreen replacement, and application of sealant to walls to resist graffiti. MARTA says it is also partnering with Atlanta Downtown Improvement District and Project for Public Spaces on the large concrete space in the plaza ahead of the World Cup in 2026. The project to improve the station is part of a larger $1 billion Station Rehabilitation Program.
