CHICAGO - Metra passengers who are boarding inbound trains at five Metra Electric stations will need to use temporary platforms from October 14th to 27th to accommodate track closures during a major construction project.

According to the release, one of the line’s four tracks is out of service for construction to take place to increase the line’s capacity because the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District is expanding service in northwest Indiana. Track 3 will be out of service and all inbound trains will run on Track 4 from 65th Street to downtown.

The five stations are 47th Street, 27th Street, 18th Street, McCormick Place, and Van Buren Street. They will have island platforms with Tracks 1 and 2 on the west side and 3 and 4 on the east side.

“The Museum Campus/11th Street Station and stations south of 47th Street will have a different layout, according to Metra, “with Track 4 directly accessible from the platforms.” The McCormick Place and Van Buren Street stations will still be ADA-accessible, and the other three will be inaccessible.
