ONTARIO – Crews began work on connection at Pape Station on the future Ontario Line.

According to Metrolinx, this comes after crews finished preparation work and cleared the site for construction to occur. Now, teams will install foundational supports. This will reinforce the soil and prepare the site for excavation.

Metrolinx states a strong perimeter must be built around the excavation site before digging can occur. At Pape Station, this work includes “digging deep and narrow trenches into the ground, inserting steel reinforcement cages into them and filling them with concrete.” This will also create the walls of the future underground structure of the station.

At all downtown station sites along the Ontario Line, crews are installing new support walls. In the east end, crews are conducting major bridge work along the above-ground rail corridor. Additionally, sites are being cleared in the north end to prepare for future major construction.
