VANCOUVER, B.C. - TransLink will close the Oakridge-41st Avenue Station nightly for seven weeks to allow crews to make upgrades to the station.
Beginning at 11 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday nights over the next seven weeks, the station will close in two phases. With the exception of Friday and Saturday, the closure phases will take place from Sunday, June 8th to June 12th and July 2nd to August 6th. During these closures, crews will install steel structural columns at the entrance of the station as well as install large wooden beams to support a new canopy and roof.
The project will ensure the station is more accessible for riders and is equipped to serve the nearby growing neighborhood, with more than 7,000 riders using the station. That number is expected to grow. As such, other upgrades are planned for the year. These include two new escalators, a street-level station entrance canopy, new public art, and direct underground mall access.
During the closures, TransLink advises its customers to allot additional travel time for the delay and use alternative modes of transportation.
