SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) gave a progress update on the overhaul of its infrastructure.
In the release, the VTA states it is scheduling several projects for the year which necessitate the need for periodic segment shutdowns. During these shutdowns, crews can repair and replace items on the light rail tracks and overhead catenary system (OCS). For its passengers, VTA will provide “bus bridges”, a bus service, as an alternative mode of transportation.
Below is a list provided by VTA detailing the first few planned impacts:
| Dates | Light Rail Stations Closed | Light Rail Stations Impacted | Bus Bridge |
| Jan 31 – Feb 2 | Great Mall – McKee | Orange | Alder – Alum Rock |
| Feb 7 – Feb 9 | Great Mall – McKee | Orange | Alder – Alum Rock |
| Feb 13 – Feb 18 | Gish – Tasman | Blue/Green | Civic Center – Baypointe |
