Harsco Rail introduces TX16 at Railway Interchange 2019
Written by RT&S StaffHarsco Rail unveiled the TX16 Production/Switch Tamper at Railway Interchange 2019 in Minneapolis.
With increased productivity from start-up to shut down, the TX16 improves the efficiency and speed at the jobsite. A cab deployable/stowable reference, integrated high-speed measurement, automated tamping, and hybrid index combine to increase overall productivity, according to Harsco Rail.
Other features of the TX16 Production/Switch Tamper include:
- Four independent tampering units on two traversing frames;
- Single-point, non-contact measurements allows the operator to record at speeds up to 30 mph;
- Continuous rail contact for immediate track lifting;
- A forward-mounted cab for a clean view of the lifting hooks, tamping units and track;
- Tamping units can be offset for skewed ties, in curves, and in the turnout;
- As many as eight cameras in the cab to give the operator tracking points all over the machine.
Optional features a drone package that allows the TX16 to act as the lead machine to a drone chase tamper and an absolute geometry package that allows the operator to import, process, and work track measurements from absolute geometry methods.
