IO and Metrolinx Release RFQ for Yonge North Subway Extension

TORONTO - Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Yonge North Subway Extension stations, rail and systems package.
According to the release from IO, the RFQ includes the design, construction, supply, integration and commissioning of five new subway stations and associated bus facilities. Additionally, it includes “emergency exit buildings, traction power substations and tunnel cross passages, all rail and signaling systems, [and] a train storage facility to support Line 1 operations.” The package also details connections at Finch Stations that includes medications to the existing tail track, provisions to enable Transit-Oriented Communities work, and integration with the existing infrastructure of the TTC Line 1 and work through the advance tunneling contract work and the Transit-Oriented Communities program.
This is the first step in the procurement process for the project. The Yonge North Subway Extension seeks to extend TTC Line 1 service from Finch Station to the City of Richmond Hill. It will run through the City of Toronto and York Region.
