Ohio utilities commission approves eight rail upgrades in Montgomery County

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) approved construction authorization from the Ohio Rail Development Commission directing Norfolk Southern to upgrade eight grade crossings in the city of Miamisburg in Montgomery County.

The upgrades include: Richard Street, flashing lights and roadway gates; Kercher Street, flashing lights and roadway gates; East Pearl Street, circuitry upgrade and modernization; East Maple Street, circuitry upgrade and modernization; Central Avenue/State Route 725, circuitry upgrade and modernization; Linden Avenue, circuitry upgrade and modernization; Lock Street, flashing lights and roadway gates and Mound Avenue, circuitry upgrade and modernization.

NS will be responsible for completing construction of the upgrades by April 23, 2014. Funding for the projects will be provided by federal funds.
