VTA To Begin Track Repairs To Light Rail This Spring

SAN JOSE, Calif. – This spring, the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will begin repairs to the overhead catenary system (OCS) on its light rail.

Throughout April until late summer, segments of light rail will be closed for construction at times. Crews will also perform other work as part of the agency’s Rail Rehabilitation and Replacement Program, State of Good Repair. Riders are encouraged to visit VTA’s website for the tentative schedule of upcoming transit impacts.

From April 24th to 28thVTA will begin replacing track ballasts, rail, and wood ties. Crews will also remove and reinstall signal components. The image above shows the five stations that will be closed during that time.
