Caltrain construction, maintenance update, July 17-23

Written by jrood

Saturday, July 17 to Thursday, July 22, crews will continue a project that will improve rail crossings at Mary and Sunnyvale avenues in Sunnyvale, Calif. Crews will grade and trench the site and install foundations for the improvements. They also will make wiring modifications in the signal houses. The work is part of a VTA project to improve safety at eight crossings in Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Palo Alto.

July 19-23, crews will
load, move and unload rail between the Burlingame and Hayward Park stations. July-22,
crews will weld and resurface the tracks and replace crossties from the San
Antonio station to a little south of Lawrence station. On July 18, crews welded
the tracks near the San Jose Diridon station.

Also, with the launch of
Caltrain’s revamped website earlier this summer, it’s now easier than ever for
Caltrain riders to find the information they need. Caltrain has been developing
this new website for more than a year, incorporating suggestions from focus
groups, surveys and customer comments. The new Content Management System also
makes editing the website easier for Caltrain. The Caltrain website currently
receives approximately 260,000 visitors a month.
