Denver RTD celebrates 10-year mark of Southwest Line light rail service

Regional Transportation District This month, Denver's Regional Transportation District is marking the 10 years since the Southwest Light Rail Line opened. Banners will be on display this month at a half-a-dozen key light rail stations and transit centers, and information will be on the RTD and FasTracks websites.

Since RTD opened the 8.7-mile
Southwest Light Rail Line on July 14, 2000. It has carried more than eight
million passenger trips. The light rail network as a whole carries an average
of about 60,000 passenger trips every weekday, well ahead of ridership
projections.

There will be an opportunity
to interview RTD as well as city and county officials from along the Southwest
Light Rail Line who will be in attendance, and to shoot video and photos of the
line on the anniversary date July 14 at Mineral-Littleton Light Rail Station at
Mineral Avenue and Santa Fe.
