Renovation closing south entrance to Montreal Du Collège métro station

Written by jrood

Société de transport de Montréal must temporarily close the south entrance to Du Collège métro station so that major renovation work may be carried out from May 25 to next August 16.

The repair work will mean
the relocation of several bus stops on Du Collège, west of Décarie Boulevard
and a longer walking distance for transit users, from the north to the south
entrance, to reach other bus stops.

The repairs will consist
mainly of demolishing the entrance building’s structural slab and pouring a new
one, with the addition of a waterproofing membrane, repairing staircases and
floor finishes, installing new windows, replacing the entrance building’s
indoor and outdoor lighting, as well as resurfacing the asphalt. Moreover, the
station’s stained glass panels will undergo major restoration work by their
original artists (Osterrath/Favretti), with the help of experts from the Centre
de Conservation du Québec.

The repair work is part of
phase II of the Réno-Stations program. Transports Québec and STM are financial
partners in carrying out this program.
