St. Louis Metro offers information on changes coming August 30

Written by jrood

With the most significant transit-service changes in years coming on August 30, Metro employees in St. Louis will be at MetroBus Transfer Centers and MetroLink stations on weekdays until then to provide customers with information on changes coming to 53 MetroBus routes. Teams of Metro employees serving as "ambassadors" will meet with customers during the morning and afternoon rush hours with details.

The first week, customers
will receive a brochure providing an overview of the system’s changes. The
following week, Metro Transit experts will be at Information Buses or Tables to
assist commuters with questions about their individual commutes. A Metro
spokesperson will be available at the Clayton Transit Center beginning at 5:30
a.m. on Tuesday, August 17.

Three months ahead of
schedule, Metro will implement the second, final and larger phase of service
restoration on August 30, 2010. While this will not be a block-by-block
reproduction of service as customers knew it before the reductions in 2009,
Metro will restore its geographic service footprint and implement other changes
that will make service to many customers better than ever, while also making it
more efficient and cost-effective.

This phase affects 53
MetroBus routes. The first phase implemented on June 28 affected more than 20
MetroBus routes and increased MetroLink frequency to 12 minutes from 15
minutes.
