UP invests $5 Million for track improvements to Fremont, Neb., line

Union Pacific will improve Nebraska's transportation infrastructure with a $5-million investment to improve the rail line that runs from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Fremont, Neb. Work on the more-than-33-mile stretch of railroad track began May 26 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

The project includes
removing and installing more than 25,000 ties, spreading nearly 20,000 tons of
rock ballast reinforcing the roadbed and replacing 35 grade crossing surfaces.
