In Minneapolis, Minn., Hennepin County recently opened a new multimodal transportation hub named Target Field Station, which connects the Metro Transit Blue and Green lines and Northstar Commuter Rail.

It also offers a public plaza for special events throughout the year, a 1000-seat amphitheater, green space, offices and retail. All of this was made possible by a combination of Federal Transit Administration (FTA), state and local funding, along with partnerships with the Minnesota Twins, Target and others.

“Target Field Station creates a new civic space for year-round public events while making travel more convenient for transit riders,” said Deputy Federal Transit Administrator Therese McMillan. “FTA support makes projects like Target Field Station possible, which is why we’re calling on Congress to support the GROW AMERICA Act and provide the necessary funding to expand and maintain America’s transit systems.”

This new space will connect 500 trains daily from the Metro Transit Blue (Hiawatha), Green (Central Corridor), Northstar Commuter Rail, the future Green Line extension (Southwest) and the proposed Blue Line extension (Bottineau).
