ATLANTA –– The first RT&S Virtual Conference of 2025 will focus on crossties and fasteners. We'll have two presenters, each subject matter experts.
We hope that you will join us for the RT&S Crossties and Fasteners virtual event focused on topics crucial to Maintenance-of-Way professionals. The conference is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
Our presenters are Chad Henderson, Assistant Director of Roadway Planning (Ties) for BNSF and Brad Kerchof, formerly Director of Research and Tests for Norfolk Southern. While Brad is retired, he has a wealth of knowledge that comes only from experience, is active in rail engineering consulting, and a frequent presenter at the Wheel-Rail Interaction Conference.
Presentations will explore the relationship between ties and fasteners, along with the unique attributes of different types of ties (i.e., wood, concrete, and composite materials).
Our experts will discuss maintenance, wear, and special accessories such as rail pads, tie pads, and crossties on bridges, along with curved and tangent track.
In addition, this virtual event will review the connection between differential tie-plate cutting (and asymmetrically worn plates) and worn rail profiles, along with why the industry has a broken spike and screw problem—and what FRA-sponsored research suggests be done about it.
Join the broadcast live to ask our distinguished experts your own questions!
