NOVI, Mich. - Represented by the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division (BMWED), 6,600 MoW workers at Union Pacific ratified a five-year contract to guarantee raises of 18.5 percent.
Additionally, the five-year agreement also includes revised vacation policies and health and welfare benefits, according to the news release. This comes after the proposed merger of Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific. Since the beginning of 2025, BMWED and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen have ratified new labor agreements for more than 23,000 Teamsters railroaders.
Member of the UP bargaining committee and BMWED Ledge 899 expressed that he was “glad that together we were able to come to a resolution that advances our wages and benefits.”
BMWED President Tony Cardwell congratulated the 6,600 members for ratifying the contract, stating the “strong contract” will allow them to “enjoy substantial improvements for years to come.”
