Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) will begin the final stages of its 18-month effort to completely rehabilitate the Ben Franklin Bridge.
According to the Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) in New Jersey, the two-year, $103-million Ben Franklin Bridge Track Rehabilitation project is proceeding on-time and on-budget, with electrical, signaling and communication upgrades continuing on the south track of the bridge and in the tunnels in Philadelphia and Camden.
Beginning on December 4, Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) trains will be operating on a revised schedule as contractors begin work on the next phase of the Ben Franklin Bridge rehabilitation project, which connects Philadelphia, Pa., and Camden, N.J. The new schedule will affect service between midday Thursday and early Monday morning and will remain in effect until early February 2015.
Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO) is ready to start a two-year, $103-million track rehabilitation project on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, which connects the New Jersey and Philadelphia portions of the system.
Port Authority Transit Corporation high speed line customers will be able to pay transit fares with their credit or debit cards in 2011 under a pilot agreement between Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc., the transportation segment of Cubic Corporation and PATCO, a subsidiary of the Delaware River Port Authority.
The Delaware River Port
Authority and PATCO have received a nearly perfect review following two days of
intense scrutiny by a Federal Transit Administration compliance reviewer. Twenty-two
areas of compliance were reviewed and the Authority received perfect scores in
21 of those areas.
In conjunction with
the Concourse Improvement project, PATCO’s Chestnut Street concourse and
8th/Market South entrance/exit will be closed from 7 p.m. on Saturday,
August 28, through 5 a.m. on Monday, August 30.
On July 22, PATCO begins
the process of recycling newspapers, glass and plastic with the placement of
special trash receptacles at the Lindenwold, Ashland and Woodcrest Stations.
The special green receptacles with a recycling decal will be located mostly on
the station platforms although they will be available in other locations. The
program will be expanded to include all other PATCO stations including the four
subway stations in Philadelphia.
What do the New York
Times, the City of Philadelphia, LaSalle University and Miracle Whip all have
in common? They are among the first to advertise on the newly installed digital
monitors at PATCO’s 8th & Market Streets Station. The station is equipped
with four, 52-inch digital monitors, located at the platform level. The
monitors display advertisements as well as weather, PATCO news and information.
The PATCO escalators at
Westmont and 15th/Locust are out of service during the week of March 29. The
time that the equipment is out of service for annual inspection and maintenance
will be minimized as much as possible. Customers who need an
escalator are encouraged to use alternate stations or an elevator
(15th/Locust).
PATCO is set to
embark on a three-month project to both repave the roadway and repair concrete
curbs for the access roads at six PATCO Stations in New Jersey. Work is
scheduled to begin on September 14 at the Lindenwold Station, with work then proceeding
west to Ashland, Haddonfield, Westmont, Collingswood and Ferry Avenue. At times
the roadwork will require some traffic pattern changes at the Stations.
