BNSF Restores Service After ‘Significant Damage’ to Rail Bridge

CANADIAN, Texas – BNSF was able to restore service to both of its main lines in the Panhandle Subdivision in north Texas on March 16th.

After wildfires burned over 1.5 million acres across the Texas Panhandle on Saturday, March 16^th, BNSF sustained damage to both of its main lines in the Panhandle Subdivision. According to an update on LinkedIn, BNSF’s bridge that spans the Canadian River suffered “significant damage,” and engineering teams responded to restore service “to one main line in 36 hours.” The second main line opened shortly after.

General Manager, Kansas Division, Michael Frisinger said “Every day, BNSF proves there’s no better team in the industry when it comes to taking care of our communities and ensuring safety and continuity for our customers. . . The Kansas Division Operations team spent a week working around the clock to battle the dangerous wildfire situation and restore essential services. We send our heartfelt thanks to our team members, some of whom are affected personally and are also working to support their friends, neighbors and coworkers.”
