LA JUNTA, Colo. - BNSF worked with the Colorado and Kansas departments of transportation and Amtrak on a track project.
BNSF recently made significant progress on a track project located on its La Junta Subdivision in southeast Colorado and southwest Kansas, according to X. Crews worked to upgrade 130 miles of track from jointed rail to continuous welded rail (CWR), which “allows for a smoother ride and fewer delays,” said BNSF. Amtrak’s Southwest Chief travels the line daily. BNSF funding and grants made the project possible.
