BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - Norfolk Southern announced the Scout Motors I-77 Rail Bridge is complete.

Ahead of schedule, the new gateway will connect to Scout’s manufacturing campus. The project was made possible through the collaboration of the South Carolina Department of Transportation, Palmetto Railways, and United Infrastructure Group. Norfolk Southern says the bridge gives it the necessary access to keep its new yard construction moving.

This past April, the Class I announced it had installed the main line switch to connect to the electric vehicle manufacturing plant. In 2023, NS teamed with 62 companies on projects that totaled $3.1 billion. Scout Motors was among these as it worked with the Class I to invest $2 billion in the Blythewood, S.C. EV automotive manufacturing facility.

At the time, the Class I stated, “From our predecessor railroads hauling the original Scouts in the ’60s to now supporting the next generation of electric off-road vehicles, NS is proud to be part of Scout’s journey once again. . . Huge shoutout to our Engineering and Transportation teams for laying the groundwork—literally—for what’s ahead!”
