CSX Installs Ties, Makes Improvements to Walbridge Yard in Ohio

WALBRIDGE, Ohio - CSX announced Sept. 10 the Walbridge Yard in Ohio underwent infrastructure improvements.
According to CSX, recent improvements made to the yard, that processes around 1,000 cars each day, will “enhance operations.” Crews installed 5,500 new ties in the eastbound segment and replaced around 20,000 ties on the mainline from Ironvillle to Walbridge. In addition, crews added new switches and raised leads.
Assistant Superintendent at Walbridge Yard Scott Riddle said, “We’ve also extended several tracks in the arrival yard to improve efficiency. . . The upgrades, including the elimination of an S-curve and the extension of three tracks, are designed to increase our capabilities and overall production at the terminal.” Below is a video, courtesy of CSX, that details these enhancements.
