Genesee & Wyoming North America reports drop in third-quarter net profit

FreightWaves is reporting that Genesee & Wyoming North America reported a small drop in Q3 2019 operating revenue compared to the same quarter last year. Genesee & Wyoming North America operating income, however, was down 6.7% for Q3 2019 compared to Q3 2018. The Q3 2019 operating income for G&W was $95.6 million.

G&W North America posted a Q3 2019 operating ratio of 72.9%, having risen slightly from the Q3 2018 operating ratio of 71.2%.

G&W North America operates 113 regional and short line railroads across four Canadian provinces and 42 states, with more than 13,000 miles of track.
